Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) training can take on different forms. It can be achieved through apprentice programs, community colleges or technical schools all of which are valuable options for different students. Program type notwithstanding, HVAC repair training focuses on teaching students how to efficiently maintain and install ventilation, cooling, and heating systems.
Technicians, on top of gaining an understanding
of the mechanics involved, also learn the physical requirements,
troubleshooting, and design. Job opportunities for HVAC graduates include
careers as owners of HVAC companies, manufacturers, designers, and HVAC technicians.
How to Become an HVAC Technician: Education &
Training
At ITI Technical College, we offer two options when it comes to HVAC training. We have the Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, & Electrical Technology and the Air Conditioning & Electrical Technology Certificate Program. These programs allow students with different personalities and learning needs, budgets, and schedules to settle for what works for them.
HVAC Degree and Diploma Program
These
programs allow the students to train in the practices and concepts of
electrical technology, air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating needed to
build careers in this industry.
The students learn the basics of electricity,
safe work practices, refrigerants, heat transfer, and the rules governing these
systems and their use.
The students also receive HVAC repair training in
troubleshooting and application of the systems and AC loading calculations.
The HVAC
repair training programs also include electrical training, advanced and basic
programmable logic controllers, motor controls electrical safety, and basic
circuitry, as well as lighting and wiring methods. The students also learn computer office
applications, introduction to computer networking, workplace communication, and
technical writing.
The key goal of
HVAC repair training programs is to ensure that the students have the
necessary skills to navigate the field.
To better gain an
understanding of the installations, repair, and operation of the heating and
cooling systems and understanding the legislation and laws that impact the
disposal and installation of these systems, these courses come in handy.
Basic Electricity-This is an entry-level course that familiarizes the
students with electrical and HVAC basic equipment functions, component
identification, and terminologies.
Fundamental HVAC
Maintenance-This course
presents clarity on the methods of configuring and connecting tubing and pipes,
the piping and tubing in HVAC systems, recovering and disposal, recharging, and
evacuating of refrigerants.
Training at ITI Technical College will give you an opportunity to access quality
programs that will help you find a better job in the job market once you are
done with training.
